Welcome to the Emily H. Fisher Library at Churchill School!
We are a Kindergarten through 12th Grade Library containing approximately 18,000 books and other library materials. Our extensive collection includes fiction and nonfiction books, audiobooks, DVDs, graphic novels, encyclopedias, atlases, almanacs, magazines, periodicals, journals, and other reference materials. We also have three desktop computers for use in our LIbrary.
Our circulation system is automated and the Library's automated catalog is accessible from all of the computers in the school as well as from home.
Here is some infomation about our Library that we hope will help you and your children enjoy and use our wonderful facility.
The goal of the Emily H. Fisher Library at the Churchill School is to help our students become more active, engaged readers and learners. Our mission is to enhance learning and the enjoyment of literature through the effective use of ideas and information. The library program provides students with access to literature, information, and resoure materials in many formats. We prepare students to access, evaluate, organize, and present ideas and information at levels expected of all New York State students.
The Library is open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day and books may be checked out during those hours.
Students are welcome to do their homework, study alone, or meet in small study groups in the Library until it closes.
Staff Development Materials and Parent Library
The Library has a Staff Development section with books and DVDs about learning disabilities.
There is also a Parent Library located in the Conference Room on the first floor of the building. This collection has books specifically geared toward the parenting issues of childr
en with learning disabilities. All of these books and materials can be borrowed by our parents. Please see a librarian if you are interested in looking at this collection and borrowing any of these books.
Birthday Book Program
Every year Churchill parents help us to build the Library's collection through the Birthday Book Program. You will receive a letter before your child's birthday describing how you can participate in this program.
